SoSo, MoSoSos or LoMoSos? The business model issue
Existing SoSos have already confirmed their economic interest but not yet their economical success! They are still struggling to find business models even if they are creative in this area: Advertising, job search, marketing etc… are the actual way for this SoSos to generate revenue. But will they continue on this way? Will they continue to offer their service “online” or move to the wireless space?
We observed an interesting experience from Friendster.com that created a Mobile Friendster (MoSoSo) in Philippines in December 2004, and the first echoes we had for this experience seem to be highly positive. Match.com, the popular online-dating site, with more than 15 million singles worldwide, launched its mobile service back in February 2003, enabling singles to search photo profiles, make condensed profiles and connect with other eligible singles in their area using basic search criteria. Since its 2003 launch Match.com Mobile has seen more than 5.5 million chat requests, and more than 7 million messages have been sent as of June 2005. Match.com plan to enhance the service with Location based technology.
I am convinced that SoSos have a great interest to enter the wireless space and become MoSoSos, remember that there are 2 billions cell phones in the world compared to 700 millions Pcs ! It’s a question of time and capability for them to change their approach.
But the next step is … LoMoSos
And Match.com has understood it; if we consider that they have the most advanced “mobile dating" experience. I found an interesting article about it on this blog ONLINEPERSONALSWATCH edited by Mark Brooks. ONLINEPERSONALSWATCH
Please comment this chart if any experience/analysis/ideas on business model and SoSos evolution.

Recent MOSOSOs
The evolution of MOSOSO is moving along at an increasingly rapid rate. Each week there consistently are new MOSOSOs popping up everywhere, most of which are being developed in Europe. This week we have run across Bemovil and Seeker Wireless. Heavily inspired by social software and the "FOAF movement," Bemovil connects people with SMSs being sent from any PC to any mobile device. Seeker Wireless, basedin Australia, is developing different uses for LBS technology with mobile phones.
